Bilingual, with an editor

MetronomeLab website

The website for the metronome app, with a content editor behind it, in Hungarian and English. Exactly the kind of site we build for a business.

The app needed somewhere to explain itself to people who have not downloaded it yet. The site was built on the same decision we would build yours on: the words and the pictures do not live in the code, they live in a content editor, so changing them is not an engineering job.

01

It walks you through the product

A metronome is hard to sell in words. So the page takes what is different about it in turn: the circular beat display, the four modules, the sounds, the price. Read it through and you know what you are about to download.

The recording above shows the same thing, all the way through. You do not have to open the site to see what it looks like.

02

The content is not in the code

The headings, the paragraphs, the images and the prices live in a content management system called Sanity. Whoever writes the words signs in, edits and publishes. No developer needed, no release needed, and no situation where a typo means having to call someone.

The same system sits behind the Hotstack site you are reading now.

03

Static, because static is fast

The site is built with Astro, and what reaches the visitor is finished HTML rather than a response from a running server. There is nothing to wait for and nothing to fall over under load. The content goes in at build time: after publishing, the site rebuilds, and from then on the new words are what goes out.

04

Two languages, one site

The site exists in Hungarian and in English, on separate addresses. No translation tool writes it: both languages are edited in the same system, and the language switcher lands you on the page you were reading.

The same page twice: Hungarian on top, English below. The navigation and the headline are both translated, and the header highlights whichever language is active.

What we worked on

  • 01 Its own design system, fonts served with it
  • 02 Looked at on a phone and on a desktop, not only built

What the user sees

The modules section of the website: the four tools listed, with the running app beside them.
The pricing section of the website: the free and paid plans side by side, with what each includes.
